4th of July
Sometimes we tend to focus on the worldly side of holidays: presents at christmas, eggs and chocolate on easter, barbeque and swimming on the 4th of july. Even as i woke up this morning i thought about getting a tan by the pool (i wish!!) and all the good food there will be! But what i failed to think of was the real reason we celebrate the 4th of July. This might get chessy but today is a day to thank and remember all of the men and women who have given their time and even their lives to serve our country. Can you imagine what our lives would be like if they weren't out their fighting for our freedoms? We take for granted all of the rights and freedoms we have. We get to live in a free country. We get to go to the schools we want, travel as we please, believe what we want, say what we want, and so much more. I often forget this like most of us, but i truly am grateful for those that have given so much for me and my country. "

You Are Loved, Don't Give Up
So i love Josh Groban! His songs are so beautiful and uplifting and just gorgeous!!! A little while ago my friend Coemgen Cluff told me to listen to this song when i was going through a really hard time and it has become one of my all time favorites! well this isn't my favorite video of this song, but i chose it because it has the words on it. i have them memorized but it means so much more if you can read them (to me at least) It is so nice to know that someone loves me when i am going through a trial. There have been times in my life where it really does feel like the weight of the world is on my shoulders (deep huh?) and i really have just wanted to give up. Through my trials i have learned that they really do make you stronger. I have seen my self grow so much even since last year. It's crazy to look back and see what i have gone through and where i am today. I recently got home from the trek and on the hardest part (Rocky Ridge) they had people from my stake (dressed in all white to look like angels) to help pull us through. When we got to the top we could look down and see what we had just gone through and all of the people that helped us get through it. After that, the rest of the journey seemed so much easier! Its like in the poem Footprints in the Sand, "The times when you have seen only one set of footprints, is when i carried you." Our hardest trials are when we realize how loved we truly are! (Gotta have a chessy ending! ha ha)
What did people do before electricity?
I finally realized how much I rely on electronics. Today we had our power shut down for a couple of hours and it hit me how much i rely on electricity! It's kinda pathetic actually. I honestly couldn't think of a single thing to do! I had no way to talk to my friends, and no way to entertain myself; me and my family were all just sitting here staring at eachother. My sisters friend was over and she said "what did people do before electricity?" It's sad how much time we spend on facebook, texting, twitter, youtube, TV, videogames, and yes even blogs!! How much time do we spend with our family and friends, reading, and just hanging out! It's the middle of summer and i have hung out with my friends a couple of times, and i went on trek and EFY, but the majority of my summer has been spent on facebook. I know i am just rambling on about this, but honestly, what would we do without electricty? I have decided that i will be much happier if i take some time to myself, turn off my phone for a bit and close my laptop. i have no clue what i am going to do but it should be nice to get out of the house for a little bit!
New Blog
I had another blog (http://dylannicolehatch.blogspot.com/) but i didn't really like it. Then i found this ADORABLE template by Amanda and i fell in love!!! My last blog was mostly videos and pictures and silly stories, this one is going to be more about me and my life! of course i will still post videos and quotes and stories but i want this one to be more of a journal about my summer and my senior year at Mesa High! I hope you guys like it!
