Girls Camp 2011/ My Turn on Earth pictures
My Turn on Earth
I haven't posted in such a long time! i have been so busy with girls camp and cleaning and getting ready for school! (i can't believe ill be starting my senior year in two weeks!!!) so i had girls camp last week and i was a 6th level, or YCL 2. which ment that we got to design the t-shirts, teach certification, help with classes, make up and teach a dance, start flash mobs and a ton more. This year our camp director, Sister Duffin, wanted us to put on the play "My Turn on Earth." as we started to practice it every wednesday after mutual we realized how hard it would be and how much time it would take up and almost didn't do it. But Sister Duffin continued to push us and we ended up doing one scene every night at girls camp. The play is about a little girl named Barbra who starts in the premortal life and comes down to earth and learns about her body but is taken home early as a young mother. The first couple of nights were super fun with lots of crazy costumes, fun dances, musical numbers, and lots of glitter!! ha ha but on the last night there is a beautiful dance and musical number about how she wasn't ready to go home yet. in the end i had to be the one to take away her new born baby as she returns back home, it was amazing how a fun and silly play turned into being so spiritual and so real. Sister Duffins sister-in-law passed away a couple days into camp, she was a young mother of 4 little kids. we all worked so hard to do our best for their family and it became such a testimony builder to all of the girls there. i wish i could describe it better, this doesn't even begin to do it justice but it was something that none of us with ever forget!

The Joys of a Clean Bathroom
Yesterday my moms friend came down from Utah and was staying in my room. So of course i waited until the last minute to start cleaning my bedroom and bathroom. My room was already fairly clean so i just picked it up and it was fine. but our bathroom is kinda the joke when people come over. It is beyond disgusting and people can never even use it! there are mountains of clothes piled in the corner, a desk chair, rabbit size balls of hair, makeup, straightners, curling irons, and who knows what else!! so i decided to tackle it. i blasted Taylor Swift from my bedroom and got to work. and you will never believe this! i had the time of my life!! i was just dancing around the bathroom and singing and being crazy! i have actually grown to love cleaning! it really helps clear your mind and it makes you feel so good!! at one point i was scrubbing the shower and i was soaking wet and covered in cleaner (which kinda burned) and i was dancing and totally slipped and fell on my butt! i could not stop laughing! it was just so much fun to be gross and crazy and get something done! its the best feeling in the world to hear that my sisters college friends were kneeling in the bathtub and kissing the floors! ha ha i cant help but smile everytime i see it! yes a clean toilet makes me smile! its so weird but it was just so much fun! i highly reccomend it!

4th of July
Sometimes we tend to focus on the worldly side of holidays: presents at christmas, eggs and chocolate on easter, barbeque and swimming on the 4th of july. Even as i woke up this morning i thought about getting a tan by the pool (i wish!!) and all the good food there will be! But what i failed to think of was the real reason we celebrate the 4th of July. This might get chessy but today is a day to thank and remember all of the men and women who have given their time and even their lives to serve our country. Can you imagine what our lives would be like if they weren't out their fighting for our freedoms? We take for granted all of the rights and freedoms we have. We get to live in a free country. We get to go to the schools we want, travel as we please, believe what we want, say what we want, and so much more. I often forget this like most of us, but i truly am grateful for those that have given so much for me and my country. "I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free. I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me. I gladly stand up next to you, and defend her still today. There ain't no doubt I love this land! God bless the USA!"
