Thanksgiving

So I know I haven't posted anything in SO long! (like usual) but a couple weeks ago me and my family watched these videos and I was blown away!! No one can ever capture all the beauty on this planet but this is pretty close. I am just amazed at all that my Heavenly Father has given me. He made all of this for ME! and when the earth was being created he called each of His creations "good" when they were done but He called us "great." I hope we never forget that we are even greater than this incredible planet we live on. We are greater than the whole universe!! and He knows each one of us even though we are just one tiny person in the midst of all of His creations. Last week someone in my seminary class gave a devotional that goes perfectly with this on Elder Uchtdorf's talk "You Matter to Him." He said that "Brothers and sisters, the most powerful Being in the universe is the Father of your spirit. He knows you. He loves you with a perfect love" and "God sees you not only as a mortal being on a small planet who lives for a brief season—He sees you as His child. He sees you as the being you are capable and designed to become. He wants you to know that you matter to Him."

I know I haven't posted in a long time but life has been kinda crazy!! I am now a senior at Mesa High and i am loving it so far! i have 7 classes which kinda stinks but I love all of them! oh and on the first day of school the yearbook teacher asked me to be the editor and cheif of this years yearbook! it has been so much fun but is WAY harder than I was expecting especially with Mrs. LaBaron gone for surgery. It's a ton of work and I really don't want to mess this up but im trying to get more involed in school things like the yearbook and the homecoming float. I also have an amazing group of friends this year! I have had so much fun going out to lunch almost every day and meeting people and going to football games and things like that! so far it has been an amazing year and I just hope that the rest of the year is just as fun if not funner! :)

My Turn on Earth

I haven't posted in such a long time! i have been so busy with girls camp and cleaning and getting ready for school! (i can't believe ill be starting my senior year in two weeks!!!) so i had girls camp last week and i was a 6th level, or YCL 2. which ment that we got  to design the t-shirts, teach certification, help with classes, make up and teach a dance, start flash mobs and a ton more. This year our camp director, Sister Duffin, wanted us to put on the play "My Turn on Earth." as we started to practice it every wednesday after mutual we realized how hard it would be and how much time it would take up and almost didn't do it. But Sister Duffin continued to push us and we ended up doing one scene every night at girls camp. The play is about a little girl named Barbra who starts in the premortal life and comes down to earth and learns about her body but is taken home early as a young mother. The first couple of nights were super fun with lots of crazy costumes, fun dances, musical numbers, and lots of glitter!! ha ha but on the last night there is a beautiful dance and musical number about how she wasn't ready to go home yet. in the end i had to be the one to take away her new born baby as she returns back home, it was amazing how a fun and silly play turned into being so spiritual and so real. Sister Duffins sister-in-law passed away a couple days into camp, she was a young mother of 4 little kids. we all worked so hard to do our best for their family and it became such a testimony builder to all of the girls there. i wish i could describe it better, this doesn't even begin to do it justice but it was something that none of us with ever forget!

The Joys of a Clean Bathroom

Yesterday my moms friend came down from Utah and was staying in my room. So of course i waited until the last minute to start cleaning my bedroom and bathroom. My room was already fairly clean so i just picked it up and it was fine. but our bathroom is kinda the joke when people come over. It is beyond disgusting and people can never even use it! there are mountains of clothes piled in the corner, a desk chair, rabbit size balls of hair, makeup, straightners, curling irons, and who knows what else!! so i decided to tackle it. i blasted Taylor Swift from my bedroom and got to work. and you will never believe this! i had the time of my life!! i was just dancing around the bathroom and singing and being crazy! i have actually grown to love cleaning! it really helps clear your mind and it makes you feel so good!! at one point i was scrubbing the shower and i was soaking wet and covered in cleaner (which kinda burned) and i was dancing and totally slipped and fell on my butt! i could not stop laughing! it was just so much fun to be gross and crazy and get something done! its the best feeling in the world to hear that my sisters college friends were kneeling in the bathtub and kissing the floors! ha ha i cant help but smile everytime i see it! yes a clean toilet makes me smile! its so weird but it was just so much fun! i highly reccomend it!

4th of July

Sometimes we tend to focus on the worldly side of holidays: presents at christmas, eggs and chocolate on easter, barbeque and swimming on the 4th of july. Even as i woke up this morning i thought about getting a tan by the pool (i wish!!) and all the good food there will be! But what i failed to think of was the real reason we celebrate the 4th of July. This might get chessy but today is a day to thank and remember all of the men and women who have given their time and even their lives to serve our country. Can you imagine what our lives would be like if they weren't out their fighting for our freedoms? We take for granted all of the rights and freedoms we have. We get to live in a free country. We get to go to the schools we want, travel as we please, believe what we want, say what we want, and so much more. I often forget this like most of us, but i truly am grateful for those that have given so much for me and my country. "I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free. I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me. I gladly stand up next to you, and defend her still today. There ain't no doubt I love this land! God bless the USA!"

Senior Pictures

Kindergarten Class of 1999
I can't believe we are graduating.
I just got home from my senior pictures and i am still shaking!! I didn't realize that they take more pictures than just the yearbook picture, oops! but just thinking back through all my years in Highschool and Junior High and even back to Elementary school, i can't believe it's almost over. At the end of my pictures they had me put on a Mesa High cap and gown. My friend Lisa was there and i almost cried. It finally hit me that im a senior. In one short year i'll be graduated. I'm going to be going to college, and moving out and getting married. I'm going to be an adult. I still walk around in footy pajamas and color and talk like a wittle kid! ha ha how am i supposed to make all the decisions and act like a grown up!? Little kids always say "when i grow up i want to..." well now i AM grown up and i have to decide what i actually want to do with my life. Someimes i wish i could just be a wittle kid again....

You Are Loved, Don't Give Up

So i love Josh Groban! His songs are so beautiful and uplifting and just gorgeous!!! A little while ago my friend Coemgen Cluff told me to listen to this song when i was going through a really hard time and it has become one of my all time favorites! well this isn't my favorite video of this song, but i chose it because it has the words on it. i have them memorized but it means so much more if you can read them (to me at least) It is so nice to know that someone loves me when i am going through a trial. There have been times in my life where it really does feel like the weight of the world is on my shoulders (deep huh?) and i really have just wanted to give up. Through my trials i have learned that they really do make you stronger. I have seen my self grow so much even since last year. It's crazy to look back and see what i have gone through and where i am today. I recently got home from the trek and on the hardest part (Rocky Ridge) they had people from my stake (dressed in all white to look like angels) to help pull us through. When we got to the top we could look down and see what we had just gone through and all of the people that helped us get through it. After that, the rest of the journey seemed so much easier! Its like in the poem Footprints in the Sand, "The times when you have seen only one set of footprints, is when i carried you." Our hardest trials are when we realize how loved we truly are! (Gotta have a chessy ending! ha ha)

What did people do before electricity?

I finally realized how much I rely on electronics. Today we had our power shut down for a couple of hours and it hit me how much i rely on electricity! It's kinda pathetic actually. I honestly couldn't think of a single thing to do! I had no way to talk to my friends, and no way to entertain myself; me and my family were all just sitting here staring at eachother. My sisters friend was over and she said "what did people do before electricity?" It's sad how much time we spend on facebook, texting, twitter, youtube, TV, videogames, and yes even blogs!! How much time do we spend with our family and friends, reading, and just hanging out! It's the middle of summer and i have hung out with my friends a couple of times, and i went on trek and EFY, but the majority of my summer has been spent on facebook. I know i am just rambling on about this, but honestly, what would we do without electricty? I have decided that i will be much happier if i take some time to myself, turn off my phone for a bit and close my laptop. i have no clue what i am going to do but it should be nice to get out of the house for a little bit!

New Blog

I had another blog (http://dylannicolehatch.blogspot.com/) but i didn't really like it. Then i found this ADORABLE template by Amanda and i fell in love!!! My last blog was mostly videos and pictures and silly stories, this one is going to be more about me and my life! of course i will still post videos and quotes and stories but i want this one to be more of a journal about my summer and my senior year at Mesa High! I hope you guys like it!
